Kırşehir

Kırşehir is the city center of Kırşehir province. At the First Geography Congress held in Ankara in 1941, this region and the region were included in the Middle Kızılırmak Section. Especially in recent years, with the migration of the villages, the population center has concentrated in the district. It increased from 13,000 in 1927 to 73,538 in 1990 and 88,105 in 2000. The central district population, which was 110,000 in 2010, is 160,737, which is the target for 2021.

Expressing that Kırşehir is the first city from Turkey to be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music, our Governor İbrahim Akın said; “The application for inclusion of Kırşehir in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music prepared by Kırşehir Municipality was put on the agenda at the AHİKA Board of Directors meeting held in April 2019 and it was decided to support it. In line with this decision, the application containing the history of our city intertwined with music, the cultural heritage left by the abdal and bozlak tradition, and the information of local and nationally recognized music masters was submitted to the relevant unit. As a result of the evaluation made by UNESCO at the end of June 2019 by taking the opinions of the relevant institutions, Kırşehir became one of the two cities from Turkey included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. While Afyonkarahisar was included in the network in the field of gastronomy, Kırşehir became the first province to be accepted into the network in the field of music. I respectfully commemorate Muharrem Ertaş, Neşet Ertaş, Hacı Tasan, Çekiç Ali and all our poets who contributed to this culture.”
