Kürsübaşı Tradition
The Kürsübaşı Tradition emerged with the gathering together to warm up, chat and have fun around the specially arranged lectern, which was used in the winter season in old Harput houses and served as a stove. Over time, it has become an important activity both for the local people to come together and have fun in winter days and to keep the traditional elements of Elazığ culture alive, such as meetings, conversations, banquets, competitions, musical entertainment, and folk tale narrations. This tradition has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2010.
