Çat Village

Çat is a village in the Çamlıhemşin district of Rize. Even a village of 5 households. Unfortunately, due to the migration in the region, there are only a few households left in the village. On top of that, there is the headman of Çat Village, who was elected by the votes of only 5 people. This person, who was the headman until the last elections, handed over his headmanship to his son.

Çat Village is actually both a plateau and a village. We call it a village because it has a headman, fruit trees grow, electricity, telephone and road. Being quiet and calm makes Çat suddenly look like a plateau. Most of the houses collapsed because they could not withstand the harsh winter conditions of the Black Sea. There is also a beautiful stone mosque in Çat Village.

There used to be families living in the winter months in Çat Village, which is adjacent to many plateaus. But in recent years, there has been no one left in the village during the winter season. Everyone was going to other villages, which they called 'my own village'.
