Garipce

Garipçe is a neighbourhood of Sarıyer, located between Rumelikavağı and Rumelifeneri, 10 km from Sarıyer. The European leg of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is located on the Garipçe Cape to the south of the village. The neighbourhood is 85% forested, 10% residential and 5% roads. Some animal and plant species in the neighbourhood are in danger of extinction. Since the area is a resting place for songbirds, birdwatching events called ‘International Dawn Chorus Day’ were organised here between 2011 and 2014 and 23 different bird species were identified in 2013.

The 15 July Memorial Forest in the region was opened in 2018.
