Kaleköy
Kaleköy is the most important place in Kekova. It is a 60-meter high settlement extending to the sea at the foot of the castle.
When approaching Kaleköy, you should pay attention to the small islands to the east and the shallows around it.
There are also underwater rocks on the east side. It is useful to pass carefully.
The anchorage is 10-15 meters in front of the village. You can stay at anchor here. There are also restaurant piers, the number of which changes, decreases and increases every year. A total of 20 boats can be moored. Here the depth drops to 3-4 meters.
Restaurants provide electricity and water for your boat. There is also a small market in the village.
The bay is uncomfortable when the breeze blows briskly. The sea lifts. It cannot be said that the piers are very safe in this weather because their durability is questionable.
Since the region is a 1st degree protected area, there is absolutely no new construction. It is very natural. This is the ancient city of Simene, which was part of the Lycian Confederation in the 4th century BC. The castle, which is reached by steep stairs, is under the control of the Ministry of Culture. There is also a theater for 300 people in the castle with a magnificent view. When you climb to the top of the castle, almost all of Kekova is in front of your eyes. You can see historical buildings and many rock tombs.
The bay is very busy as it is frequented by excursion motors coming from Kaş, Üçağız and Demre. One anchors, one picks up. There is a constant circulation. If you want to visit Kaleköy, you should prefer to visit until 10.00 in the morning or after 17.30 in the evening.
