Maral Waterfall
Maral Waterfall is a waterfall on Maral Stream in Karçal Mountains in Borcka district of Artvin province. The waterfall falls from a height of 63 m from a single slope break. The waterfall takes its name from Maralköy, formerly Mindieti. Today, it is located in the Camili Biosphere Reserve. The Maral Stream, on which the waterfall is located, is a tributary of the Macahel (Uğur) Stream. Macahel Stream collects the waters of the 45-50 km2 basin. The stream, which collects the waters of the environment with its many tributaries, enters Georgia, joins with the Coruh River and reaches the Black Sea. The basin of the Maral Stream before the waterfall is 5.5 km2, 10 km2 in total. It originates from Didgana Tepe (2012 m) and Dabangel Tepe (1964 m), and merges into Macahel Stream after 5.5–6 km. A giant boiler with a width of 2.5 m, a depth of 2.5 m and an area of 40 m2 was formed where the waters of the waterfall fell. In the environment where winter precipitation is in the form of snow, the amount of water in the waterfall increases with the melting of snow in spring. In the period when the precipitation decreases, the stream fed by the spring waters ensures the continuation of the flow of the waterfall.
