Eski Mosque

This mosque was built in the Byzantine period and was used as a church until the conquest of the city by the Turks. It is one of the two structures in Safranbolu that has been converted from a church to a mosque. This mosque is in Cami Kebir District. It is made of mortared rubble stone. It has a square plan and its mihrab, pulpit, minaret and roof are wooden. The women's gathering place was again seated on wooden poles. The prayer area is 17.5 x 17.5 m.
