Kutlubey (Grand) Mosque

The Grand Mosque got its name from Kutlubey, one of the Ottoman commanders who lived during the reign of Murad I and showed usefulness. While there was a mosque in 1429 in the place where Kutlubey Mosque (Grand Mosque), one of the oldest mosques in the city center, is located, according to the foundation, when the roof of this mosque was destroyed in 1429, it was opened in 1899 to replace the decaying parts of this mosque. destroyed and Sultan II. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Abdulhamid's accession to the throne, it was decided to build a multi-domed, masonry mosque similar to Hagia Sophia and its construction began. The walls of the new mosque, the construction of which was completed in 1904, are from the kövke. After the mosque was destroyed in the great earthquake in 1914, the current mosque was built in 1922. The mosque, which has a rectangular plan in the north-south direction, has a minaret in the northwest corner. There are five arched window openings on the east and west façades, four on the top and bottom on the south façade, four on the top and four on the bottom on the north façade.
